PHOTOS

When I started walking regularly a few years ago it helped shape my prism and get me out of my head. I was able to see, with greater clarity, what I was missing in the world around me. I had previously allowed the grind of my much-harried life to consume me. Always on the go and onto the next, I wore freneticism like a badge of honor. Since that realization, mere moments have captivated my attention. I began to see the order in the organic and the artistry in the ordinary.

WALKS ON THE WILDSIDE

2/15/22: The last couple of winters have found me exploring nearby trails, woods, and waterways. I’m almost always accompanied by my dog Fuego. We’re both interested in the nature of it all, new surroundings, and seasonal changes.

OUT AT THE RANCH

6/9/21: This is a collection of nature photos I’ve taken out at my friend Maureen’s ranch over the last few years. Each spring we make a weekend out of it for our annual girls’ trip. In addition to enjoying the company of this collective of smart raucous women it’s restorative to take in the solemnity of the rural landscape surrounding us.

HOUSTON HABITAT

4/19/21: Almost equally important as getting my steps in is finding the beauty around me. I’ve always had a thing for trees and that’s reflected in the images of branches and leaves I’ve captured. I love the repetition of line, color, and shape and the way the sunlight shines through and brightens their leaves. In the photos below I’ve captured a small sampling of the local color at the Houston Arboretum, Memorial Park’s Eastern Glades, Buffalo Bayou, City Acre Brewing, and nature preserves in and around Cypress.

IN & AROUND QUEENS

3/28/21: Last fall I spent a month visiting my family in Queens. My home base was my aunt and uncle’s house in Bayside and I couldn’t have asked for a better stay while I was there. Plus they were the best hosts. Most days I took morning walks to surrounding areas before I started my day working remotely. I visited Bowne, Crocheron, and Fort Totten Parks. I took in sights in and around Little Neck Bay, Oakland Lake, Jones Beach State Park and the waterways of the Throgs Neck and Whitestone Bridges. I enjoyed experiencing the foliage, waters, and nature of autumn in New York. I am sharing a selection of my favorite photographs from that trip.

SOLO SOJOURN

3/21/21: I took a solo trip to Wimberley, Texas for my birthday this February. I relished the time alone to discover the quirky small town, enjoy nature, and take it all in. During the days I explored the locale and returned to Bella Rosa to write in the evenings. Here’s a sampling of sights I captured with my trusty iPhone.
